Why use proxies for OLX

OLX is a classifieds platform, and almost everything on it is tied to location: search brings up nearby offers, while delivery and prices depend on the city. From abroad, or from an address in another region, you do not see the same picture as a buyer in Lviv or Dnipro.

A proxy is needed for three work tasks: looking at listings as a buyer does, collecting prices and offers in your category, and signing in to a work account from a stable Ukrainian address.

Listings as the buyer sees them

Select Ukraine in the generator, and in advanced mode pick a city: Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, Dnipro, Kharkiv and others. This shows where your listing ranks in the city search, which offers appear next to it and what the listing page looks like to someone who is not signed in.

Keep in mind: OLX takes some settings not from the IP but from the city selected on the site and from cookies. Check in a clean browser profile without signing in.

Monitoring prices and categories

To track competitors' prices or collect offers in a category, you need rotation: port 823 (HTTP) or 824 (SOCKS5) gives a new address for every request, and the load is spread across different IPs.

Start with datacenter proxies in Ukraine — $0.80 per GB. If the platform starts responding with a CAPTCHA or errors, first lower the request rate, and then switch to residential — $1.59 per GB. How data collection works is described in the web scraping and data collection use case.

Work account: one address per sign-in

Rotation is not suitable for signing in to an account: the platform will become wary if one user appears from a new city every time. Take a port from the 10000–20000 range — it holds one address for 1 to 120 minutes, and the whole work session runs from a single IP.

Many users visit OLX from a phone, so mobile proxies in Ukraine are also suitable for an account. If you manage clients' accounts, keep each one in a separate browser profile with its own address — more in the multi-accounting use case.

What to know in advance

• OLX rules limit the number of accounts and listings. A proxy does not override these rules: read them before you start and follow them.
• We do not promise that the platform will accept a particular address: it makes access decisions itself.
• Payment pages and banks are closed through the proxy for all customers — see blocked sites.
• You may collect only public listing data. Personal data of sellers and buyers is a separate legal matter.

How much traffic you need

A listing page with photos weighs several megabytes. If you turn off image loading in the scraper or browser, usage drops several times over. Purchased gigabytes never expire, so you can start with a small amount and buy more as needed — prices are on the pricing page.
