Blocked websites and open ports

Some websites are closed to all customers. This makes it less likely that the network's addresses end up on blacklists, so your requests run into blocks less often. The restrictions apply on every plan and are not lifted on request.

Websites closed to everyone

  • Government websites and visa centres.
  • Banks and payment systems: online banking, payment gateways, wallets.
  • Bandwidth-selling services: apps that pay for sharing an internet connection.
  • Individual websites whose owners complained about automated traffic.

If a website is closed, the proxy responds with 403 SITE_PERMANENTLY_BLOCKED. Other codes are explained on the Error codes page.

Open ports

By default ports 80, 443, 53, 853, 5228, 5060, 8080, 8090, 8443, 8888 are open. That covers websites, APIs and most software. Mail ports (SMTP, IMAP, POP3) are closed: you can't send or receive email through the proxy.

What you can't do through the proxy

What you can and can't do through the proxy is described in the Acceptable Use Policy. It is part of the public offer, and breaking these rules gets the plan blocked.
