Proxies for Reddit

Reddit is where buyers honestly discuss products and services. A proxy from the right country helps you see the platform through the eyes of the local audience and work with a brand account from a stable address without trouble.

Why use proxies for Reddit

On Reddit people ask for advice before buying, compare services and complain about support. For a brand, it is a source of feedback and a place where you can answer customers directly.

A proxy comes in handy for three tasks: running a brand community and tracking mentions, researching the market through subreddits in different countries, and collecting data for analytics. All three only work within Reddit's rules.

Rules first

Reddit strictly prohibits vote manipulation and ban evasion. You cannot upvote your own posts from other accounts, artificially boost discussions, or create a new account after the old one has been banned. A proxy must not be used for this, and we do not describe such scenarios.

Individual subreddits add their own rules: bans on ads, on links, on posts from brands. Moderators look at behavior, not at the IP. Before posting in a community, read its rules.

Brand community and mention monitoring

If a brand has its own subreddit or an official account, several employees usually work with it. It is convenient to keep the account in a separate antidetect browser profile, with its own cookies and one address. We explain what this browser is in the glossary, and setup for popular programs is in the guides section.

A rotating proxy is not suitable for signing in to an account: if a user shows up from a new address every few minutes, the platform will become wary. In the generator, choose the "Sticky session" mode: ports 10000-20000 hold one IP for 1 to 120 minutes, 30 by default. If employees work from different cities, a shared port gives the platform one address instead of several.

Monitoring mentions often does not require signing in: open discussions can be read in a clean profile. Replies to customers are still better posted from the brand's main account, openly and in its own name.

Several brand accounts

A company may have several official accounts, for example for different products or markets. Reddit allows this as long as the accounts are not used together for voting, boosting or ban evasion. Keep each one in its own browser profile with its own sticky port and the country where the product operates.

Residential proxies ($1.59 per GB) and mobile ones ($2.50 per GB) suit accounts: these are addresses of home internet providers and mobile carriers. Keep in mind that a sticky residential or mobile IP can change before the time is up if the device goes offline, and the port then gets a new address in the same country. More details are in the multi-accounting use case.

Market research by country

Reddit is English-speaking by default, but many countries have their own communities: Polish, German, Ukrainian, British. The popular section and recommendations depend on the visitor's country, so with an IP from Poland or Germany you will see different topics than from Ukraine.

Select a country in the generator and open Reddit in a clean profile without signing in. Read what questions people ask in your niche, which brands they mention and what they complain about. If you need the picture for a region or city, specify it in advanced mode, but traffic with precise geo (region, city, ZIP, carrier) is counted double, and for Reddit a country selection is usually enough.

Data collection through the official API

For regular collection of posts and comments, Reddit has an official API with its own terms of use and limits. Work through it wherever possible: it is predictable and complies with the platform's rules. Reddit sets the API terms, and a proxy does not override them.

If the API does not suit a particular task, collect only public data, keep your request rate moderate and follow the platform's rules. The "Rotating (new IP per request)" mode suits this kind of page reading: port 823 (HTTP) or 824 (SOCKS5). You can start with datacenter proxies ($0.80 per GB); if the platform responds with errors, first lower the rate, and then switch to residential. A plan allows up to 1000 concurrent connections, but frequent requests will lead to a block rather than to data.

Remember that posts and comments are written by people. Usernames and users' personal details are a separate matter under personal data law; for analytics, anonymized texts are usually enough.

How much traffic you need

Reddit is mostly text, but the feed loads images, GIFs and videos. For reading discussions, turn off video autoplay and image loading where you do not need them, and usage will drop several times over. The traffic calculator helps you estimate the volume, and the gigabytes you buy never expire. Prices are on the pricing page.

What to know in advance

  • A proxy does not override the rules of Reddit and of individual communities.
  • We do not promise that the platform will accept a particular address: it makes that decision itself.
  • The pool is shared: another customer may have used an address before you. The anonymity filter in the pool settings excludes IPs that sites have already flagged as proxy or VPN.
  • Banks and payment systems are blocked through the proxy for all customers, see blocked sites.

FAQ

Which proxies should I use for a brand account on Reddit?

Residential or mobile in the "Sticky session" mode, so the whole work session runs from one address.

Can I run several Reddit accounts?

Several official brand accounts, yes, each in its own browser profile. Using them for voting, boosting or ban evasion is not allowed: Reddit prohibits it.

Can I come back after a ban through a proxy?

No. Ban evasion is prohibited by Reddit's rules, and a proxy must not be used for it.

How do I collect data from Reddit?

Wherever possible, through the platform's official API with its terms and limits. Without the API, only public data, at a moderate rate and within Reddit's rules.

Do you guarantee access to Reddit through a proxy?

No. The platform sets the access rules, and we have no influence over them.
