Key takeaways
  • Host gw.prokso.com, ports 823 (HTTP), 824 (SOCKS5), 10000–20000 (sticky sessions, HTTP or SOCKS5)
  • The username and password are in your dashboard on the plan page
  • After setup, check your IP on the My IP page

A step-by-step guide to connecting Prokso proxies in Kameleo. It takes a few minutes.

Step 1. Get the proxy details from your dashboard

Open your plan and copy the host gw.prokso.com, port, username and password. Port 823 is HTTP and 824 is SOCKS5 (both give a new IP for every request); ports 10000–20000 keep one IP (sticky session) for up to 120 minutes and work as both HTTP and SOCKS5 (each port is a separate address). Set the country in the username: username__cr.ua.

Step 2. Open the profile's proxy settings

Create a new profile or open an existing one and go to its proxy settings. Switch from Without Proxy to With Proxy.

Step 3. Pick the protocol and server

Choose HTTP(S) or SOCKS5. Host: gw.prokso.com. Port: a sticky 10000–20000 port for an account (works for both HTTP and SOCKS5), or 823/824 for rotation (823 for HTTP, 824 for SOCKS5, a new IP for every request).

Step 4. Turn on authentication

Enable the Authentication toggle and enter the username and password from your plan page.

Step 5. Test the proxy

Click Test Proxy. Kameleo shows the IP and geolocation. Then save the profile.

Step 6. Check the IP inside the profile

Launch the profile and open the My IP page in its window: it should show the proxy's IP address and country. Your regular browser outside the profile shows your own IP — that's expected, the proxy only works inside the profile.

Session duration to suit your work in the profile

A sticky IP is kept for 1 to 120 minutes, and the default is 30. The duration is set in the generator when you create the string. For a short action the default value is enough; for long work in an account, set the maximum.

When the session ends, a new IP is assigned to the same port. The site sees this as a login from a different address. So do not leave a profile open longer than the session lasts if you are logged in there.

If Test Proxy shows an error

  • Authentication is not turned on. Without the "Authentication" switch, Kameleo sends the request without a username, and the proxy refuses the connection.
  • The protocol does not fit the port. 823 is HTTP, 824 is SOCKS5, and sticky ports take either of the two.
  • A port or protocol ended up in the host field. It should contain only gw.prokso.com.
  • The plan has run out of traffic. Check the remaining traffic in your dashboard.

If the check passes but the site does not open, look at the response code: it is explained on the proxy error codes page.

FAQ

Which protocol should I pick: HTTP or SOCKS5?

HTTP is fine for normal browsing. SOCKS5 is useful when an app or site uses more than plain HTTP. For an account use a sticky 10000–20000 port with the SOCKS5 type; 824 is SOCKS5 with a new IP for every request.

Can I set the proxy through the API?

Yes, Kameleo's local API accepts proxy settings when you create a profile. The parameters are the same: type, host, port, username and password.

What should I check after changing the proxy in an existing profile?

The time zone, language, and geolocation of the profile: they must match the new country. And check for a <a href="/en/tools/webrtc-leak-test">WebRTC leak</a> in the running profile.

Do Kameleo mobile profiles work with a proxy?

Yes, the proxy is set the same way. For a mobile profile it makes sense to take mobile addresses: the combination of a mobile device and a mobile carrier looks natural.
