Proxies for Review Monitoring

Reviews of your brand are scattered across marketplaces, maps, review sites and app stores. A proxy from the right country or city shows them the way a local customer sees them and helps you collect public data regularly.

What review monitoring gives you

Customers read reviews before they ever reach your website. They see the rating on a marketplace listing, the score of a branch on maps, the company page on a review site, the comments on an app in the store. If you track all this by hand, complaints get noticed late.

Regularly collecting public reviews helps you reply to customers on time, find recurring problems with a product or delivery, and compare yourself with competitors. Here a proxy is needed for two things: seeing reviews through the eyes of a customer from the right country, and collecting data calmly without running into the limits of a single address.

First things first: no fake reviews

Let us be clear: writing, ordering or buying fake reviews is not allowed, neither about yourself nor about competitors. It is forbidden by the rules of every major platform, and in many countries also by consumer protection laws. A proxy must not be used for this, and we do not describe such scenarios.

Replying to reviews should also be done the usual way: from your company account, openly and in your own name. The proxy on this page is a tool for reading and monitoring, not for publishing.

Why reviews depend on country and language

Platforms adapt to the visitor. A marketplace in Poland and in Germany can show a different set of reviews for the same product, in a different order. Maps display branches and ratings with an eye on location. App stores show reviews in the country's language, and an app's rating can differ from market to market.

From your office you see only one version. To understand what a customer in Lviv, Warsaw or Berlin reads, select the right country in the generator and open the page in a clean browser profile without signing in. The interface language and saved cookies also affect the result, so keep a separate profile for each country.

If a specific city matters, for example the ratings of your locations in Kyiv, Odesa and Dnipro, switch on advanced mode and specify the city. Keep in mind that traffic with precise geo (region, city, ZIP or carrier (ASN)) is counted double. For reviews on marketplaces and in app stores, choosing a country is usually enough.

Where reviews are usually collected

  • Marketplaces: reviews and ratings on the listings of your products and your competitors' products. The general principles are in the marketplaces use case.
  • Maps and business directories: ratings of branches, stores and service centers in different cities.
  • Review sites: company pages where customers write about service, delivery and support.
  • App stores: reviews and the rating of a mobile app by country.

Check the official options first

Many platforms give owners official access to their reviews: through a seller account, a business profile on maps, an app developer console or an API. This is the most reliable route: the data is complete and the terms are clear. Where such access exists, use it.

A proxy comes in handy where there is no official option or it does not show what you need: competitors' reviews, reviews in another market, how a page looks to a customer from another country.

Which mode and proxy type to choose

For regular collection, the "Rotating (new IP per request)" mode works well: port 823 (HTTP) or 824 (SOCKS5) gives a new address for every request, and the load is spread across different IPs. A plan allows up to 1000 concurrent connections, but reviews do not need that many: start with a few threads and pause between requests. How data collection works in general is described in the scraping and data collection use case.

For manual checks, the "Sticky session" mode is more convenient: ports 10000-20000 hold one address for 1 to 120 minutes, 30 by default. This way the whole check runs from one IP, and a page that loads reviews as you scroll does not get confused.

You can start with datacenter proxies at $0.80 per GB. If the platform responds with a CAPTCHA or errors, first slow down, and then move to residential ones at $1.59 per GB. For reviews in mobile apps, you can take mobile ones at $2.50 per GB.

Personal data of review authors

Reviews are written by people, and the text often comes with a name, a photo and a city. Collect only what is published openly and needed for analysis: the text, the rating, the date, the product or branch. There is no need to build databases with the authors' personal data: anonymized reviews are enough for analytics, and the processing of personal data is regulated by law.

How much traffic you need

A review page is mostly text, but product photos, avatars and scripts load along with it. Traffic is counted in both directions. Turn off image loading where you do not need it, and usage drops noticeably. The traffic calculator helps you estimate the volume, and the gigabytes you buy never expire.

If you track not only reviews but also competitors' prices, it is convenient to combine these tasks. Read more in the price monitoring use case.

What to know in advance

  • A proxy does not override platform rules: each platform sets its own terms for data collection and working with reviews.
  • We do not promise that a site will accept a particular address: the site decides that itself.
  • The pool is shared: another customer may have used an address before. The anonymity filter in the pool settings screens out IPs that sites have already flagged as proxies or VPNs.
  • Banks and payment systems are closed to all customers through the proxy. See blocked sites.

FAQ

Why use proxies for review monitoring?

To see reviews and ratings the way a customer from the right country or city sees them, and to collect public data without running into the limits of a single address.

Can I write reviews through a proxy?

No. Fake reviews are forbidden by platform rules and by the laws of many countries. Reply to reviews openly from your company account.

Which mode should I choose for collecting reviews?

"Rotating (new IP per request)" on port 823 or 824 for regular collection; "Sticky session" for checking a page by hand.

Do I need to specify a city?

Only if ratings depend on location, for example for branches on maps. Traffic with precise geo is counted double, and for marketplaces a country is usually enough.

Do you guarantee access to review platforms?

No. Each platform sets its own access rules, and we have no influence over them.
