HTTP and HTTPS proxies

Almost any software understands an HTTP proxy: browsers, antidetect tools, scrapers, the system settings on your phone. The same plan also gives you SOCKS5 — you pick the protocol in the generator.

What an HTTP proxy is and how HTTPS fits in

An HTTP proxy is an intermediary server that takes requests from your browser or app and passes them to the website on its own behalf. You do not need to buy a separate “HTTPS proxy”: the same HTTP proxy opens https sites too. The connection to the site stays encrypted end to end, and the proxy server only sees which address you are connecting to. That is why the generator has a single option: HTTP(S).

Ports and modes

  • Port 823 — HTTP(S), a new IP for every request.
  • Ports 10000–20000 — each port keeps its own IP for 1 to 120 minutes; good for accounts.
  • Port 824 — the same over SOCKS5, if your software needs it.

There is one host, gw.prokso.com. Authentication is by username and password or by IP whitelist (up to 5 addresses).

Where you need HTTP specifically

The system settings in Windows, Android and iPhone only work with HTTP proxies. Chrome cannot use SOCKS5 with a password, so it takes HTTP as well. Most scrapers and libraries — requests, Scrapy, Playwright — accept an HTTP proxy in one line. If you need to route more than browser traffic, see SOCKS5 proxies.

Pricing

TypePrice per GBBest for
Residential$1.59scraping, market research, SEO
Mobile$2.50social media, ads, app testing
Datacenter$0.80fast scraping and bulk automation

The protocol does not change the price: you pay per GB and unused traffic never expires. You can buy HTTP proxies with no subscription and no minimum term.

FAQ

Are HTTP and HTTPS proxies different products?

No. One HTTP(S) proxy opens both http and https sites. The connection to an https site stays encrypted between your browser and the site.

HTTP or SOCKS5: which should I choose?

HTTP for browsers, system settings and most scrapers. SOCKS5 for Telegram and software that needs more than web traffic. Both are available on the same plan.

Can I buy HTTP proxies without a subscription?

Yes. You pay per GB: datacenter $0.80, residential $1.59, mobile $2.50. There is no monthly fee and traffic never expires.

What does an HTTP proxy line look like?

Usually host:port:username:password or username:password@host:port. The generator produces lines in the format you need, and the converter reformats an existing list.
