Key takeaways
  • Host gw.prokso.com, ports 823 (HTTP), 824 (SOCKS5), 10000–20000 (sticky sessions, HTTP or SOCKS5)
  • The username and password are in your dashboard on the plan page
  • After setup, check your IP on the My IP page

A step-by-step guide to connecting Prokso proxies in Shadowrocket. It takes a few minutes.

Step 1. Get the proxy details from your dashboard

Open your plan and copy the host gw.prokso.com, port, username and password. Port 823 is HTTP and 824 is SOCKS5 (both give a new IP for every request); ports 10000–20000 keep one IP (sticky session) for up to 120 minutes and work as both HTTP and SOCKS5 (each port is a separate address). Set the country in the username: username__cr.ua.

Step 2. Add a server

Open Shadowrocket and tap + in the top-right corner.

Step 3. Choose the type

In Type choose HTTP or SOCKS5 — the same protocol as in the dashboard generator.

Step 4. Fill in the fields

Address: gw.prokso.com, Port: 823 for HTTP, 824 for SOCKS5 or a sticky port 10000–20000, User and Password: your plan credentials. Save with the button in the top-right corner.

Step 5. Turn on the connection

Select the added server in the list and turn on the connection switch at the top. On first launch the iPhone asks for permission to add a VPN configuration — allow it.

Step 6. Check the IP on the phone

When the connection switch is on, the VPN icon appears in the status bar. Open the My IP page in the phone's browser: it should show the proxy's IP address and country.

How Shadowrocket works with a proxy

Shadowrocket creates a local VPN connection on the device and sends traffic to the proxy through it. That is why the iPhone asks for permission to add a VPN configuration, and a VPN icon appears in the status bar. There is no separate VPN service involved: your proxy is used.

Unlike a proxy in the Wi-Fi settings, this connection also works on mobile data and persists when you move between networks.

Routing modes

The settings include global routing. In "Proxy" mode all of the device's traffic goes through the proxy, in "Direct" mode none of it does, and in the configuration-based mode only what is described in the rules. If the proxy is on but the address has not changed, check which mode is selected.

If the connection does not work

  • The type does not match the port. 823 is HTTP, 824 is SOCKS5, and sticky ports 10000-20000 accept both types.
  • A space in the username or password. The iPhone keyboard adds one after pasting. Clear the field and paste again.
  • Another VPN is on. Only one VPN connection can be active on an iPhone at a time.
  • "Direct" mode is selected. Switch the routing to "Proxy".
  • The plan has run out of traffic. The remaining traffic is shown in your dashboard.

The app has a server connectivity test: it shows the response time. If there is no response, compare the details with the generator.

Traffic usage

In global mode everything goes through the proxy: app updates, photo syncing, and background requests. Before a long session, turn off automatic updates, and turn the connection off when you do not need the proxy.

FAQ

Why use Shadowrocket instead of the Wi-Fi proxy setting?

The Wi-Fi proxy setting applies to one network and only some apps. Shadowrocket works over both Wi-Fi and mobile data and supports SOCKS5 with a username and password.

Will calls in messengers work?

No. Our proxies carry TCP traffic only, and calls use UDP. Messages and websites work; calls do not.

Can I add several proxies?

Yes. Add several servers and pick the one you need from the list. For different countries, create separate entries with usernames from the generator.

Do I need to keep the app open?

No. Once turned on, the connection works in the background until you turn it off.
