What makes the Korean internet different

South Korea has its own leaders in almost every niche. The main search engine is Naver, not Google: it has its own search results, blogs, maps and shopping platform. Shopping goes through Coupang, Gmarket and 11st, and messaging through KakaoTalk. To see the market through the eyes of a local user, you need a Korean IP.

Many Korean services are built for residents of the country: they ask for a Korean phone number at sign-up, and some features are shown only to a Korean address. A proxy solves only the question of the address; it does not replace identity verification.

For rank tracking, take both systems into account: rankings in Naver and in google.co.kr have to be checked separately, and both from a Korean IP. Prices are shown in won (₩, KRW), and the amounts are large, with no decimal part: keep this in mind when parsing pages.

Language, cities and time zone

The browser language for a Korean profile is ko-KR. Korean sites often redirect a profile with a Korean IP and English as its language to a cut-down international version.

The city is set in the generator's advanced mode: USERNAME__cr.kr;city.seoul. Write the name in Latin letters, in lowercase, without spaces: city.busan, city.incheon, city.daegu.

There is one time zone for the whole country, Asia/Seoul, with no daylight saving time. That simplifies setup: the time zone does not depend on the city.

Which proxy type fits Korean tasks

The mobile carriers in South Korea are SK Telecom, KT and LG U+. You can set a carrier by its ASN in advanced mode. Whether addresses of a particular carrier are available depends on the pool.

Traffic usage and accounts

Korean sites are heavy: lots of images, banners and embedded video. When collecting data, turn off image loading if you do not need the images; on pages like these it saves most of the volume. The traffic calculator will help you estimate usage.

For accounts, use a sticky IP on ports 10000-20000 with a session duration of up to 120 minutes, and do not change the login country. You can check the IP and WebRTC on the My IP page, and guides for setting up software are in the guides section.

How to buy South Korea proxies

To buy South Korea proxy servers, create a plan, choose “South Korea” in the generator and pick HTTP or SOCKS5. Residential IPs in South Korea cost $1.59 per GB, mobile $2.50 and datacenter $0.80; the price is the same for every country. Pay with crypto; the traffic you buy never expires.

Good to know for any country

  • The pool is shared: another customer may have used an address before. The anonymity filter in pool settings removes IPs that sites already flag as proxy or VPN.
  • The country is free. Traffic with precise geo (region, city, ZIP or ISP) is billed ×2: 1 GB of such traffic uses 2 GB of your plan, we add nothing.
  • Availability in a specific city changes during the day. If there are no free addresses, remove the city or pick a neighbouring one.
  • In a sticky session, the IP of a home or mobile device can change before the session expires — when the device goes offline.
  • The proxies carry TCP only: messenger calls and online games don't work. Some sites are closed to all customers — see the blocked sites page.
