Antidetect Browsers: How to Choose One
Key takeaways
  • An antidetect browser keeps separate profiles, each with its own fingerprint, cookies and proxy
  • Compare by your tasks: fingerprint quality, proxy support, teamwork, API, pricing model
  • Test a program on 2-3 profiles and your real actions, not by its feature list
  • Give each profile its own sticky port, time zone and language that match the address's country
  • The website has step-by-step guides for connecting proxies to popular antidetect browsers

You need an antidetect browser when you have several accounts on one platform and they must not look like one person. There are many programs of this kind, and they all promise roughly the same thing. The differences are in the details: how the program builds fingerprints, how it works with proxies and whether it is convenient for a team.

Below: what to compare antidetect browsers by, how to test a program before paying and how to connect proxies so that profiles do not give each other away.

What an antidetect browser actually does

An ordinary browser is the same for everything: the same cookies, the same set of fonts, the same graphics card. A website combines these signals into a fingerprint and recognizes you even after you log out of your account. More about this type of program in the glossary: antidetect browser.

An antidetect browser creates many separate profiles. Each one has its own cookies and storage, its own device fingerprint and its own proxy. To a website, one profile looks like a laptop in Kyiv, another like a computer in Lviv, a third like a PC in Warsaw.

It is important to understand the limits. An antidetect browser hides what the browser gives away. It does not change the address: the proxy takes care of that part. So choosing a browser and choosing a proxy are two halves of the same task.

What to compare

The feature lists of these programs look alike, so do not count the items: look at what you specifically need. Here are the main criteria:

CriterionWhat to checkWho it matters most to
Fingerprint qualityThe profile looks consistent: fonts, screen, WebGL and language match each otherEveryone who works with accounts
Proxy supportHTTP and SOCKS5 with a username and password, proxy check right in the profileEveryone
TeamworkRoles, profile transfer, activity logAgencies and teams
API and automationLaunching profiles from a script, connecting Puppeteer or PlaywrightThose who automate routine work
Pricing modelPayment per number of profiles, per user or per featureThose who have many profiles
Operating systemsWindows, macOS, Linux: what your team works onMixed teams
Cloud phonesMobile profiles for appsThose who work with mobile apps

Fingerprint: consistency matters more than the number of settings

A bad fingerprint is not one with few settings, but one where the settings contradict each other. For example, the browser says it runs on macOS, but its set of fonts is typical for Windows. Or a phone screen is combined with the graphics card of a gaming computer.

A good program builds a profile from parts that match and does not let you accidentally create an "impossible" device. You can check this on fingerprint testing websites: open the profile and see whether there are obvious mismatches.

Proxies: the small things people trip over

Almost all antidetect browsers accept proxies, but how convenient this is varies a lot. See whether you can paste a whole line instead of filling in four fields. Whether there is a proxy check before launching a profile. Whether you can upload a list and assign addresses to dozens of profiles at once.

A must-have is support for username and password authorization for HTTP and SOCKS5. If the program only supports proxies without a password, you will have to turn on IP whitelist access, and that is inconvenient when you work from different places.

Team, API and pricing model

If you are the only one working in the browser, you can ignore team features. For an agency they matter more than fingerprints: you need to hand a profile to a colleague without sending passwords, split access and see who did what.

An API is needed when profiles are launched from scripts. In that case, look at how the program provides the address for connecting automation and whether there are examples for Puppeteer or Playwright.

The pricing model is easy to underestimate. Some programs charge per number of profiles, others per user, others for a set of features. Calculate how many profiles you will need in six months, not today. Plan prices and limits change, so check them on the program's own website.

Operating systems and cloud phones

Check which operating systems the program runs on for everyone who will use it. If your managers are on Windows and your designer is on macOS, profiles must open the same way for both. Otherwise someone will be left without access to the accounts at the worst possible moment.

Not everyone needs cloud phones. They matter if you work with mobile apps rather than websites: an app expects a real phone with a mobile operating system. For working in a browser, an ordinary desktop profile is enough. If you do need cloud phones, you connect proxies to them too, following the same rule: "one phone, one address".

How to test a program before paying

Do not choose based on reviews and comparison tables. Take two or three programs and run the same actions in them:

  1. Create 2-3 profiles for different countries and connect its own proxy to each one.
  2. Open an IP and fingerprint check in each profile. The country, time zone and language must match.
  3. Repeat your usual workday: log into an account, do a few actions, log out.
  4. Close the profile and open it again. Cookies and the login must be kept.
  5. If you work in a team, hand the profile to a colleague and check that everything opens without logging in again.

After a few days of this kind of work, it becomes clear where the program is convenient and where it gets in the way. This is more reliable than any feature list.

How to connect a proxy to a profile

The main rule is one profile, one address. In Prokso, there are ports from 10000 to 20000 on the gw.prokso.com host for this. Each port holds a single address for 1 to 120 minutes, 30 by default, and works over both HTTP and SOCKS5. More about this mode in the glossary: sticky session.

  1. In the dashboard generator, choose a country, the "Sticky session" mode and a line format your browser understands.
  2. Give each profile its own port. Do not use one port for two profiles.
  3. Set the time zone and language in the profile to match the address's country, or turn on detection by IP.
  4. Check the proxy with the button in the browser or on the proxy checker page.
  5. Open the my IP page in the profile: the country, time zone and WebRTC must point to the proxy address.

The rotating port 823 or 824 is not suitable for a profile with an account: the address will change with every request, and the platform will see one person ending up in a new place every second. Keep rotation for data collection.

Which proxy type to choose for profiles

For most accounts, residential IPs work well: they come from home internet providers, and platforms trust them. For mobile apps and the strictest platforms, people choose mobile ones. Datacenter proxies are cheaper, but many social networks see a datacenter address and ask for verification more often. More about the difference in the article residential vs datacenter proxies.

Keep in mind that a sticky residential or mobile address may change earlier than planned if the device goes offline. The port then gets a new address in the same country. For the account this looks like an ordinary reconnection, and the country and time zone stay the same.

Prokso proxies are paid per gigabyte, with no subscription, and purchased traffic does not expire. It is convenient to keep separate plans for different groups of profiles: each has its own username, password and balance. Prices are on the pricing page.

Which browsers have guides

The website has step-by-step guides for connecting Prokso proxies to antidetect browsers: AdsPower, Dolphin Anty, Octo Browser, GoLogin, Multilogin, Undetectable, Incogniton, Kameleo, MoreLogin, Hidemyacc and RoxyBrowser. The order of the list is not a rating: these are simply the programs we have written setup instructions for.

The full list of guides, including ordinary browsers, operating systems and automation programs, is in the guides section.

Common mistakes at the start

  • One proxy for all profiles: the accounts get linked by address.
  • A rotating port in a profile with an account: the address changes in the middle of a session.
  • A Kyiv time zone with an address in Germany: the mismatch is visible right away.
  • A sudden change of country for an account that has been active for a long time: the platform asks for verification.
  • Choosing a program by the number of features rather than by your own tasks.

Most of these mistakes show up on the very first day. So after setting up each new profile, spend a minute checking it: open the IP page, compare the country, time zone and language, and only then log into the account. This habit saves more accounts than choosing between similar programs.

FAQ

What is an antidetect browser in simple terms?

It is a browser where you can create many independent profiles. Each profile has its own cookies, history, device fingerprint and proxy, so to a website they look like different computers.

Do I need a proxy if I already have an antidetect browser?

Yes. The antidetect browser takes care of the browser fingerprint, but the address stays yours. Without a proxy, all profiles go online from one IP, and a website can easily link them together.

Which protocol should I choose in a profile: HTTP or SOCKS5?

Either works if the browser supports them with a username and password. In Prokso, sticky ports 10000-20000 work over both HTTP and SOCKS5, so choose whichever is more convenient in your program.

Can I use one proxy for several profiles?

Technically yes, but then the profiles share one address, and the platform may link the accounts. It is more reliable to give each profile its own port from the 10000-20000 range.

Why does a website see the wrong time zone?

Most likely, the time zone in the profile is set manually or did not update after you changed the proxy. Turn on detection by IP or set the time zone of the address's country, then check the result on the "my IP" page.
