Username, ports and parameters
The gw.prokso.com gateway reference on one page: what each port gives you, how to put a country, city or carrier into the username, and how to check that the proxy gave you exactly what you asked for.
1. Address and ports
All Prokso proxies run through a single gateway, gw.prokso.com. The port decides what you get:
| Port | Protocol | IP address |
|---|---|---|
823 | HTTP and HTTPS | New on every request |
824 | SOCKS5 | New on every request |
10000-20000 | HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5 | Sticky: each port keeps its own address |
A sticky port keeps its address for as long as set in the "Session duration, minutes" field: from 1 to 120 minutes, 30 by default. The field is in the "Pool settings" block on the plan page. When the time runs out, the same port gets a new address. One port means one concurrent address: for ten accounts, take ten ports, for example 10000-10009.
Sites on https:// work through the HTTP port too: your software opens a tunnel through the proxy (the CONNECT method), and encryption runs from it to the site unchanged. In the proxy address itself, write http://, not https://.
2. String formats
The generator in the dashboard gives you the string in whatever form your software needs. The same four parts (host, port, username and password) in a different order:
| Format | Example |
|---|---|
| username:password@host:port | USERNAME:PASSWORD@gw.prokso.com:10000 |
| host:port:username:password | gw.prokso.com:10000:USERNAME:PASSWORD |
| protocol://username:password@host:port | socks5://USERNAME:PASSWORD@gw.prokso.com:824 |
| host:port@username:password | gw.prokso.com:10000@USERNAME:PASSWORD |
| username:password:host:port | USERNAME:PASSWORD:gw.prokso.com:10000 |
| host:port (IP whitelist) | gw.prokso.com:10000 |
Antidetect browsers mostly accept host:port:username:password, while libraries and curl take an address with the protocol. To convert a ready list from one format to another, use the converter.
3. Parameters in the username
Country, city or carrier are set right in the username: add two underscores after the username, then parameters separated by semicolons, USERNAME__parameter.value;parameter.value. The password stays the same.
| Parameter | What it sets | Example |
|---|---|---|
cr | Country, two-letter code. Several countries comma-separated, up to 10 | cr.pl, cr.pl,cz |
state | State, US only | state.newyork |
city | City in Latin letters, no spaces | city.kyiv |
zip | ZIP/postal code | zip.10001 |
asn | Carrier or ISP by ASN number, several comma-separated | asn.39603 |
nostate, nocity, nozip | Exclude a state, city or ZIP code | nocity.warsaw |
sessid | Session ID on ports 823/824: one address for about 30 minutes without a dedicated port | sessid.s1 |
Country targeting costs nothing extra. State, city, ZIP, carrier and exclusions are precise geo: that traffic counts double, so 1 GB uses 2 GB of your package. Precise geo works only together with a single country, with up to 10 values per field. Without parameters, the gateway gives an address from any available country.
Codes for cities, regions and carriers are suggested by the generator in the dashboard in advanced mode; pages for individual carriers are in the Providers section.
4. Ready-made examples
Fill in your own username and password from the plan page:
| What you need | Username | Port |
|---|---|---|
| New address on every request, any country | USERNAME | 823 or 824 |
| Poland, new address on every request | USERNAME__cr.pl | 823 |
| Germany, one address per session | USERNAME__cr.de | 10000 |
| Kyiv | USERNAME__cr.ua;city.kyiv | 10000 |
| New York State | USERNAME__cr.us;state.newyork | 10000 |
| Play mobile carrier | USERNAME__cr.pl;asn.39603 | 10000 |
| Poland or Czechia | USERNAME__cr.pl,cz | 823 |
| US excluding California | USERNAME__cr.us;nostate.california | 823 |
| One address for ~30 minutes on a rotating port | USERNAME__cr.pl;sessid.s1 | 823 |
We don't guarantee that addresses for a specific city or carrier are available: the pool is live. If no address matches the parameters, the gateway returns a 503 NO_RAY error. Widen your selection, for example by removing the city.
5. IP whitelist without a password
If your software can't pass a username and password, add your computer's or server's IP to the "IP whitelist (no password)" block on the plan page, up to 5 addresses per plan. The string then consists of just the host and port: gw.prokso.com:10000.
Without a username there's no way to pass parameters, so set the countries in "Pool settings", in the "Default countries" field. City and carrier can't be set in this mode. More in the glossary: IP whitelist.
6. Check the result
The address https://prokso.com/ip returns the IP the request came from and what the geo database knows about it: country, region, city and carrier. A request through the proxy shows which address you got:
curl -x http://USERNAME__cr.pl:PASSWORD@gw.prokso.com:10000 https://prokso.com/ipThe response looks like this (values here are examples):
{"ip": "203.0.113.24", "country": "PL", "region": "Mazovia", "city": "Warsaw", "asn": 39603, "org": "P4 Sp. z o.o."}For SOCKS5, write socks5h:// instead of socks5://: then the proxy, not your computer, resolves the site name to an address, and your DNS server doesn't see where you go. The country may differ between geo databases; we explain why in the glossary: IP geolocation. If you get an error instead of a response, go through the step-by-step check.
