Google: "Our systems have detected unusual traffic from your computer network"

Google decided that too many automated requests are coming from your address and asks you to confirm you're a human.

What the error means

This isn't a proxy error but a check by Google itself. It looks at how many requests come from an address, how fast, and whether they look like a program at work. If they do, it shows this page and a captcha instead of results.

The restriction applies to the address, not to your account. It usually lifts on its own after a while, from a few minutes to a few hours.

It happens more often with proxies than at home: the pool is shared, and another customer may have used the same address shortly before you.

Causes

  • Searching too often. Especially from one sticky IP with no pauses.
  • Many parallel threads to Google. The pace adds up across all threads, not just one.
  • Search operators in a row. Google checks large numbers of site:, inurl:, intitle: queries especially strictly.
  • The address is already noticed. Someone used it heavily not long ago, or it's from a subnet Google considers suspicious.
  • The browser looks like a program. No cookies, an unusual User-Agent, JavaScript turned off.

How to fix it

  1. Take a break and search again later: the restriction lifts on its own.
  2. Get another address: on port 823 or 824 every request uses a new IP; on a sticky port, pick a different number from 10000-20000.
  3. Lower the pace and the number of threads to Google, and add uneven pauses between requests.
  4. For manual work use a regular browser with cookies and JavaScript on; you can solve the captcha there by hand.
  5. If you need your own site's rankings, take them from Google Search Console: the data comes from Google itself, with no searches.
  6. Turn on the anonymity filter in the pool settings: it drops addresses that websites have already marked as proxies. More about address types is on the residential proxies page.

How to check that it works

Open google.com through the same proxy and run a couple of normal searches by hand. If results open without the check, go back to the original task at a slower pace. The My IP page shows which address the website sees.

FAQ

Is my Google account blocked?

No. The check applies to the address the requests came from. It doesn't touch your account or its settings.

How long until the restriction lifts?

Usually from a few minutes to a few hours. Google doesn't say exactly.

Will changing the proxy help?

Yes, if the address is the cause: take a new IP. But if the pace stays the same, the check will come back on the new address too.
