Dedicated proxy

A dedicated proxy is a proxy whose IP address is assigned to a single client for a set period and is not shared with anyone else.

A dedicated, or private, proxy is an IP address that only one client gets for a set period. Nobody else works through it during that time. Such addresses are usually sold one by one, for a month or another term.

The opposite is a shared proxy: several people use one address at the same time. It is cheaper, but the history of the address depends on everyone who uses it. If someone sent too many requests through it, websites may treat you with suspicion too.

The main benefit of a dedicated proxy is control over IP reputation. The address behaves the way you use it and does not change without your knowledge. There are downsides too: you pay for each address separately, and one address is a single point. If a website limits it, you have to find another one.

Dedicated proxies are usually chosen for tasks where one address has to work with the same website for a long time, for example access to a service restricted by IP or work with a single dashboard. For data collection and checking pages from different countries, a separate address is needed less often. There it is easier to take many addresses from the pool and pay only for the traffic used. So before choosing, ask yourself honestly how many addresses you need and for how long.

Prokso pay-per-GB plans take addresses from a shared pool, and an address just for you comes with static proxies. Addresses come from a shared pool of residential, mobile and datacenter IPs. You pay for traffic, not for the number of addresses, and you can choose a country, city or ASN.

When you need one address for the duration of a task, use a sticky IP. Ports 10000-20000 on gw.prokso.com give you a sticky session: the IP is held from 1 to 120 minutes, 30 by default. Port 823 (HTTP) and port 824 (SOCKS5), on the other hand, give you a new IP on every request.

So a sticky IP in Prokso is an address from the pool tied to your session for the chosen time, not an address you own. For tasks where the IP must stay the same for weeks, this mode will not fit, and it is worth knowing in advance. For most tasks that need one address for an hour of work, it is enough. Payment terms are described on the pricing page.
