Prokso Proxy extension privacy policy
Version dated 13 October 2026.
Prokso Proxy is an extension for the Chrome browser that switches the proxy from your Prokso plan on and off. This page covers the extension only. How we handle data on the website and in the dashboard is described in the general privacy policy.
What the extension stores
The data is stored only on your device, in the extension's storage in the browser, and is not synced to other devices:
- your API key, if you connected with a key;
- proxy details: the server address, port, and the plan's username and password;
- your choices: plan, country, IP mode and whether the proxy is on.
What the extension sends and where
The extension contacts only the prokso.com website:
- Requests to the Prokso API with your key - to get the list of plans, the remaining traffic and a proxy line for the chosen country and mode.
- An IP check request - when you press "Check". The reply is the IP address that websites see.
The browser sends the proxy username and password to the proxy server of your plan, just as if you had typed them into the browser's own prompt.
What the extension does not do
- it does not read or change the content of the pages you open;
- it does not collect browsing history, search queries or form data;
- it does not share data with third parties or sell it;
- it contains no advertising and no third-party trackers;
- it does not load or run code from outside: all the code is inside the extension.
Traffic through the proxy
While the proxy is on, this browser's connections go through the proxy server of your plan, and the traffic volume is deducted from the plan. The content of sites with a secure connection (https) is encrypted between the browser and the site. What is recorded about proxy use is described in the general privacy policy.
Why the extension needs its permissions
- Proxy settings - to turn the proxy on in the browser and to restore the normal settings.
- Access to network requests - only to answer the proxy's request for a username and password. Such a request can arrive when any website is contacted, which is why the permission covers all sites.
- Storage - to keep the data listed above on your device.
How to delete the data
Press "Disconnect" in the extension window: the key, the proxy details and the settings are erased, and the browser returns to a normal connection. Removing the extension from the browser also erases everything it stored. You can revoke the API key in the dashboard, in the API section; after that it stops working.
Changes and contact
If the extension starts handling data differently, we will update this page and the version date. Send questions to support@prokso.com.
